Mission

At St. James, we serve all children, youth, young adults, and all understandings of family.

Ministry

At St. James, we seek to find a common place where all members—regardless of history, affiliation, experience, or profession, can find and foster a relationship with God in community. Our family events and ministries are to be a place where anyone can experience loving relationship with our church through meaningful gatherings of work and play.

Families & Children

As a multi-generational church, we celebrate the gift of faith through worship, in conversation, through learning, in fellowship, and in service.

What we’re learning this month in Kids’ Church

Hello, St. James family! Most of our children have been in school for a few weeks now. We know that on the first day back, at least a few of them were nervous about getting back into school, and starting a new year. We had a sharing time with the children, and we got it. Some may have been asking themselves a few questions about school. Will my teacher this year be nice? Will my friends be in my class? Who will play with me at recess? Will I meet new friends? Who am I going to sit with at lunch?

Some of them may not have been worried at all about school. Worry is a big feeling. It’s a natural response to a big event, change, or challenge. Even us grown-ups worry. Who is our strength? How can we stay strong when we feel worried or nervous? God is the answer to both questions. The Bible doesn’t ignore the reality of worry but offers a perspective that empowers us to confront and overcome it. One of the promises that we hold on to is written in Isaiah 41:10, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” By teaching children to lean on their faith, embrace prayer, remember God’s promises, and find strength in a loving family and a supportive community, we empower them to face their fears with confidence. And as a church, may we continue to commit to nurturing our children’s spiritual growth, guiding them through life’s worries with wisdom, patience, and love. Let us all pray for a wonderful, fun, and safe school year!

—Love,

Ms. Krishen and Miss Araceli
