Mission

At St. James the Great, we serve all children, youth, young adults, and all understandings of family.

Ministry

At St. James the Great, we seek to find a common place where all members—regardless of history, affiliation, experience, or profession, can find and foster a relationship with God in community. Our family events and ministries are to be a place where anyone can experience loving relationship with our church through meaningful gatherings of work and play.

Families & Children

As a multi-generational church, we celebrate the gift of faith through worship, in conversation, through learning, in fellowship, and in service.

What we’re learning this month in Kids’ Church

A spark, a small burst of energy, can initiate a fire. According to Google, this happens because a spark provides the necessary heat and energy to raise the temperature of a combustible material like tinder, dry grass, or fuel to its ignition point, causing it to ignite and burn. Almost 2,000 years ago, a spark was struck, and the fire spread beyond Jerusalem and Judea out to the world and to all people. This month, St. James Kids’ Church will study some stories from the Book of Acts which provides an eyewitness account of the spark and fire—the birth and spread of the church.

We will learn that the church did not start or grow by its own enthusiasm. The disciples were empowered by God’s Holy Spirit—the promised Advocate and Guide sent when Jesus went to heaven. Because of the Holy Spirit, God’s people were empowered so they could accomplish their tasks. The Holy Spirit still empowers us today. We should turn to the Holy Spirit to give us strength, courage, and insight to accomplish our work. By faith in Jesus Christ and through the power of the Holy Spirit, our church can be a vibrant agent for change.

Love,

Ms. Krishen and Miss Araceli
