Welcome to St. James’ Music & the Arts

The church has historically been a patron of the arts and music as an integral part of the worship life of the church. Our liturgies at St. James are intentionally prepared weekly with our timeless, treasured hymns, anthems, and contemporary musical expressions for your participation and joy.
The Psalmist writes in Psalm 150, “Praise the Lord with the sound of the trumpet, drums, cymbals, organs and dance.”

The Parish Choir

Our Sunday morning service continues to be the center of our participation in the life of our work and ministry in the parish. Our St. James Parish Choir, shown above, is the foundation of our musical expression in each service, helping to shape the congregation’s participation in the hymns and service music, and uplifting them by the singing of anthems, all in the service of praising God together.

The Festival Choir

The Festival Choir is for those who want to sing in choir and cannot make a weekly commitment. Join us for rehearsals that are scheduled occasionally and celebrate music and the arts with us! Call the music office at 949.675.0210 for more information.

Previous Concerts at St. James the Great

See the video of the Ukrainian Cultural Forces’ concert at St. James the Great on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024

The members of the Ukrainian Cultural Forces, who were at St. James the Great for the 10 a.m. service and then a concert following the service on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024, were all professional artists before the war, but are now active duty soldiers and frontline volunteers. They presented a wide variety of music, from Ukrainian and world classics to covers of popular hits and country tunes. Most artists fought in some of the fiercest battles of the war. After recovering from injuries, they got back to playing music.

The Cultural Forces brings together active service members and volunteers of artistic and creative trades. Through culture and the arts, they work to improve the troops’ morale and provide psychological support to soldiers in combat and recovery zones.

St. James the Great was honored to welcome the Cultural Forces to Orange County on the second part of their 2024 U.S. tour.
