The church has historically been a patron of the arts and music as an integral part of the worship life of the church. Our liturgies at St. James are intentionally prepared weekly with our timeless, treasured hymns, anthems, and contemporary musical expressions for your participation and joy.
The Psalmist writes in Psalm 150, “Praise the Lord with the sound of the trumpet, drums, cymbals, organs and dance.”
Throughout the summer months, we have been featuring our parish singers and instrumentalists at our weekly liturgy celebrations. You will learn more about who they are and their professional undertakings. Chat with them at our hospitality hour following the service.
The Festival Choir is for those who want to sing in choir and cannot make a weekly commitment. Join us for rehearsals that are scheduled occasionally and celebrate music and the arts with us! Call the music office at 949.675.0210 for more information.
Join us as we celebrate All Saints/All Souls weekend. We will be singing traditional Anglican and Gregorian chants.
We will celebrate the Feast of Christ the King with our guest organist/composer Mark Thallander. You will have a chance to meet Mark and hear him play our pipe organ and learn about his amazing journey on how he turned a tragedy into a triumph after losing an arm in a debilitating automobile accident.
Our choir will lead our assembly in the rousing processional hymn, “Rejoice,” based on the hymn, “Rejoice, the Lord is King,” as we celebrate this beautiful feast.
Our Festival Choir will feature exciting assorted holiday treats, carols, and hot chocolate!
This year’s special guest is Dean Torrance, “Mr. Surf City” himself. Come, friends and families for this evening sure to get you into the holiday spirit!
We invite children from St. James to join this fall’s VOX Pop-Up Choir Program! This two-month session welcomes singers ages 8 and above of all levels to participate in a unique pop choral experience. This exciting program provides singers with the opportunity to learn outstanding arrangements over a six-week rehearsal process, participate in a professional recording project and perform with incredible musicians in concerts throughout the holiday season. Meeting at St. James on Sunday afternoons, children will gather from all around Orange County to develop and strengthen their musical artistry in a supportive environment.
