Project Hail Mary—summer 2025 book discussion (includes book cover and picture of a star with tails)

‘Project Hail Mary’ by Andy Weir was another in our ‘summer reads’ book discussions

Our summer reading this year was the book Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, a New York Times #1 bestseller, and the latest page-turning adventure from the author of The Martian. While it’s a gripping science fiction story filled with suspense, humor, and brilliant imagination, Rev. Cindy said she also found it to be deeply spiritual in its own surprising way—a powerful story of redemption, courage, and hope in the face of the unknown.

Together, we explored what it meant to face the impossible with faith, curiosity, and resilience—even light-years from home. As Rev. Cindy said in introducing the book to the congregation, “Whether you’re a sci-fi fan or just looking for a thought-provoking summer read, I think you’ll find this story as inspiring as I did.”

Those of us who read the book this summer met on Aug. 3rd to reflect and discuss the book’s content. If you haven’t read it yet, we invite you to start reading!
